Acrylic, methacrylic and glycidyl monomers
Ciba® AGEFLEX monomers are (meth)acrylic or glycidyl monomers with low color, low viscosity and only trace levels of acidity, solvent and moisture. For the formulator, this provides the advantage of greater latitude in development and less environmental concern when compounding.

Our patented process technology produces the highest possible proportion of the target monomer with the lowest level of residual reactants and by-products. As a result, AGEFLEX monomers are higher in purity and more consistent.

Monomers as versatile chemical building blocks
Ciba Specialty Chemicals manufactures a broad range of amine and quaternary monomers as well as a complete range of functional acrylates, methacrylates and specialty glycidyl ethers. Our monomers are versatile chemical building blocks. For example, amine monomers are used to promote adhesion, and quaternary monomers are used where a cationic charge is required. Glycidyl ethers are used to make silane intermediates and as reactive diluents in epoxy formulations. Functional acrylates and methacrylates are used to modify resins and impart specialized properties, such as hardness, impact strength, adhesion, flexibility or weatherability.
